West Sussex Bungalow Renovation with Open‑Plan Extension and Future‑Proof Single‑Storey Living

This West Sussex project involved the complete refurbishment and extension of a single‑storey bungalow, transforming it into a bright, future‑proof home designed for comfortable later‑life living. The original property was dark, with a fragmented layout and limited connection to the garden. Our brief was to modernise the home, improve accessibility and create generous, light‑filled living spaces.

A key part of the redesign was a new open‑plan kitchen, dining and living area, formed by extending the building and introducing large areas of glazing. These full‑height windows and doors maximise natural light and provide uninterrupted views of the garden, creating a strong indoor–outdoor connection.

Internally, the layout was reconfigured to reduce wasted circulation space and improve flow throughout the home. The existing garage, which was too narrow for practical use, was converted into a welcoming entrance lobby and functional utility room, adding valuable everyday convenience.

A further extension allowed us to create a spacious master bedroom suite, offering privacy and comfort. The remaining bedrooms and bathrooms were fully refurbished, with new roof lanterns installed to enhance daylight and natural ventilation.

The result is a modern, energy‑efficient and highly functional bungalow with larger living areas and ample accommodation for visiting family and guests — a home designed to support the clients’ needs for many years to come.
