New build for extended family
Due to the proximity and height of the surrounding existing buildings, the design included a sub terranean level to provide the accommodation the clients needed. They wanted an indoor swimming pool that felt linked to the outdoors and could also be viewed and appreciated from within the house.
The result is a house of layers that juxtapose and relate to each other. In different ways from different spaces. The main focus of the design was on achieving plenty of light within the building, a sense of space and a link to the secluded courtyard terrace which provided privacy from the neighbouring buildings.
The clients wanted the build to use high end and sustainable materials with a level of insulation and ventilation in excess of current building regulations.
